Insta-Friday and a little self reflection

Whew!  Friday.  For a while there, I wasn’t sure that we’d make it.  {As if NOT making was an option?}  It was a busy one, no doubt.  Need proof?  I’ve hardly had any time at all to Instagram.  I know.

Here are just a few (apparently, featuring Camden the Camera Hog) from our crazy week:

Early morning school-work session.  Thank goodness for my educator husband!

By far the strangest book I have EVER read my children.

In other news, I’ve re-discovered a few things about myself this week.

1. I still stink as a single parent. J has been soooo busy with his new job, grad school classes, taking care of the rental, etc. that we’ve been lacking some serious “Daddy time” around here.  Plain and simple, I just don’t cut it.  I count on him for support, breaks, re-affirmations, partnership, and good belly laughs.  Without him?  Single Mom Missy is short-tempered, boring, and exhausted!  Needless to say, we’re looking forward to 3 long days of quality family time this weekend!

2. When things are somewhat stressful around her I start keeping score. Ugh.  You have no idea how much it pains me to admit it. But I do.  No matter where J’s been or why (working hard or having fun), I tend to keep a running tally of my chores to his.  Meals made, hours cleaned, diapers changed, questions answered, books read, laundry done.  You get the idea.  And that’s dumb!  Here’s the thing, though --- I want to do those things.  I mean, there’s nothing else in this entire world that I’d rather be doing than caring for my family and our home.  Plus (and this is a BIG ONE!), J has been working ridiculously hard and playing very little.  I have no doubt that if it were up to him, he’d be here helping out and having fun!

3. The final thing I’ve learned about myself this last week? I should NOT ever, under any circumstance again, eat cauliflower before working out.

Happy Friday, friends!  Praying you all have a fun, safe weekend!
