Friday phone photos and a whole lotta randomness....

  • My brother and I are now officially registered for the Dam to Dam 20k. I'm just finishing up week 7 of the Hal Higdon's Half Marathon Training Schedule and am feeling fairly confident that I might actually be able to do this. It's fun, exciting, invigorating, and painful all at the same time.  At just short of 13 miles, the race is about 8 miles further than my longest race ever. I tend to stress over strange, very unimportant details when it comes to new challenges.  For instance, my current list of race worries includes: What if I have to poop? Will I be dressed appropriately? What if I get off course and end up lost (seemingly impossible with tens of thousands of runners, but rest assured, if anyone can - I can!)? And, How can I avoid puking?
  • Last week bananas were $39/lb. at my local Hy-Vee. I bought 4 bunches. We ate 2, froze 1, and am making {this} with the very ripe final bunch.
  • I'm now on Pinterest and am la la loving having a place for all my inspiration/ideas/eye candy. I kind of drug my feet at first for fear that it was going to be just one more thing to keep up with, but it sooo isn't!  It doesn't take any more time and in fact, I think it'll save me time in the long run.  No more scouring my computer or reader for that idea I just know I saved somewhere!  Plus, I can pin anything at anytime and not have to worry about bookmarking on my PC or "starring" items in my reader, then never finding them again. Shall we share?
  • Speaking of Pinterest...I pinned {this} this morning and it still has me laughing.
  • Truthfully? I don't give 2 hoots about the big Royal Wedding.  However, I do think Kate's dress was stunning.
  • My friend, Amber, wrote {this} post on mommy guilt earlier this week and holy crapola, she hit the nail on the head with this one!  Check it out.
  • Oh, guess what?!?  I was featured over at House of Hepworth's this week, which was obviously super exciting.  Except.  Except, I tend to put pressure on myself following features to up my "blogging game," to become something I'm not.  Not this time, though.  This time it's just more of the same around here. Kids, stories, randomness, more kids, and some craftiness/projects/decorating/organization mixed in. Ok?  Ok.  I knew you guys would understand. So, if you're new, WELCOME.  I hope you'll stick around and laugh at with us.

Ok, we're off to enjoy the warm (albiet a wee bit windy) weather with a trip to the park.  Happy weekend-ing, friends!

in regards to the D2D:
1. if i can do it 17 weeks pregnant, anyone can do it!
2. if you have to poop, they have porta-potties almost every few miles, if u gotta go now... you jump in the ditch and go like everyone biggie!
3. you will NOT get off course, I PROMISE!!
4. seriously, if you train up to 10 miles you'll be fine for 12.4... the last few miles the adrenaline is pumping and there are so many people cheering for you and bands playing, you'll be able to finish strong no matter what you feel like... and i'm not just saying that, you can do it!
5. GOOD LUCK! Let me know if you have any questions....You'll do great!!

I agree with everything above!! One thing I learned at the half marathon...if it is cold bring along a garbage bag to wear while you wait to start...also a lot of runners cut the toes off of socks and wear them on their arms to keep warm. You can just take them off and throw them away as you get warm. If is such a cool experience! We will have to meet up after the race to celebrate!!! You'll do fabulous!!!

But I'll admit sometimes you scare me, like our warped minds think alike? Scarier for you to be like I supposed :) Anyways, I got my new phone and have been SNAPPING away the pics, thought maybe I'd do a photo dump on my blog... Um, hello?? Missy just did this! So it must the uber cool thing to do right? :)

Last year I only made it to mile 6 in my training...I made it right on time with what I wanted to run it in (and exactly the time that I said I would run it in when I signed up!). The adrenaline is crazy!!! You will do great!
