The catch-up continues...(Disney edition)

Welcome back to the catch-up craziness and thanks for joining me for a recap of our *magical* vacation to DisneyWorld! And lucky for you guys, I have about 15 minutes before the troops are up from naps and demanding a snack, so I'm going to make this quick. As you can see, I had about a million and one photos to share, so I decided a slide show was the most efficient way to go. I need to thank Jenni for some wonderful pictures! She was our resident photographer and did an awesome job! Click on over to {Jen's blog} to hear her version of our vacation.

Soooo....here are just a few highlights (and just a few low-lights of our trip!)

* The day after Christmas we were on the very snowy, icy road headed for the airport at 3:45 am to catch our 6:00 am flight to Chicago. After checking in and making our way through security (NO easy task with 8 adults, 3 kids, and two strollers!) we boarded our plane (already delayed 15 minutes) and spent the next 30 minutes waiting for it to "de-ice." Thank you, Mother Nature. Finally in the air we were expecting a quick 45 minute flight. Well, those quick 45 minutes turned into nearly 2 hours as we circled O'Hare International Airport waiting for clearance to land. So, for nearly an hour and a half we were circling the airport in a 10-mile radius at 500 mph. AND, let's just say that there's a reason I don't like the Silly Silo at Adventureland! I spent the last 10 minutes or so of our flight puking my breakfast into a barf bag. It was glamorous! We finally touched down in Chicago and Elijah was sitting with my parents and all of a sudden I look over and he was puking too. EVERYWHERE. On himself, on my dad, on my mom, on their carry-on. Everywhere. Without getting too graphic, I should share that he had an entire sippy cup full of milk before take-off. Ewwww! Needless to say, we quickly exited the plane and ran as fast as we could before the plane police hunted us down and charged us for the mess. I did pack a change of clothes for all of us, so he was eventually fragrance-free.

But, wait. The plot thickens.

By this point we had missed our connecting flight to Orlando and my parent's were waiting in the customer service line with at least 200 other people. To make a LOOONG story short, my parents worked their magic (after 2 hours in line and LOTS of tears!) and everyone but my dad had flights out of Chicago the next morning. My dad would be taking a less direct route to Denver, then to Orlando and would be arriving just a few short hours after us. On the bright side, the airline put us all up in a hotel, gave us food vouchers, and upgraded our tickets to first class! So, while we missed our first dinner reservation and our character breakfast, we had a blast eating pizza, hanging out in our hotel rooms, playing cards, and making a LONG trek to Target in the snow...with Jen in capris and me without socks!

Fast forward a bit...Everything the next day went as planned and by early afternoon we were enjoying the Caribbean Beach Resort in sunny (yet chilly!) Florida!

* Monday we went to Magic Kingdom and ate at an awesome Irish Pub in Downtown Disney. After dinner we walked around and met Goofy. Simply put, all three kids acted as if he (and every other character we met!) were Santa Claus himself. And we all remember how {that} went, right?!?

* Tuesday we spent several hours at Epcot, went to the Boardwalk and ESPN Zone for lunch, headed back to the hotel for naps, then dined at Planet Hollywood for dinner. We discovered our first night that late evening, during the parade and fireworks, was the best time to get on rides and see shows at Magic Kingdom without having to wait in a line as long Michael Jackson's funeral processional! So, that's what we did! We got to ride some rides, see Mickey and Minnie, and tour they're homes!

* Animal Kingdom was our park of choice on Wednesday, which also happened to be my mom's birthday! The weather was perfect and we all had a blast on the "safari" together! That afternoon I took Addi to the pool and let her play on the beach while J rested with the babies. My mom's birthday dinner was a Fulton's. It was a great meal around a HUGE round table! We, again, went to Magic Kingdom following dinner, only this time we were accompanied by Cinderella (Addi) and Peter Pan (Eli). :)

* Thursday morning the five of us went to Downtown Disney, walked through the shops, played in the sprinklers, and had the most horrible silhouettes of the the kids done. (Another story for another day!). New Years Eve was spent watching fireworks and eating pizza with the whole crew on the deck of our hotel. I can't think of a better way to have spent the evening!

* Friday we boarded the plane and headed back to reality. This time without any puking, flight delays, or missed connections!

It was a truly *magical* vacation and I can't thank my parent's enough for their generosity!

Now...Mom, Jenni, Scott, Bri...what did I forget?!?
