Well, there went another fabulous weekend for the books.
Friday night I dropped Eli off to J at school and they headed to the big Ankeny/Dowling football game. The boys had a great time and I can assure you they enjoyed the opportunity for male-only bonding. While they were at the game, the girls and I hit up the mall. We wandered, had dinner in the food court, and scored some great deals (for those wondering...no, I did not end up getting a pair of skinny's. I tried several on, but just wasn't ready to commit...which, is totally my shopping style!). Those few hours with my girls were just what this mama needed. I have a feeling this is only the start of our girls night shopping trips.
Saturday was another full day. Addi had her second soccer game of the season, so J took her to that while I stayed with the napping babies. The game report was that our little athlete is making progress. She actually touched the ball this time, made good friends on the sidelines, turned down her chance to play during the second half because she was "too sweaty," and declared the post-game hand shaking her favorite part. Yep, that's my girl.
That afternoon we did a little tailgating in Ames, then cheered the Cylones on to a great win against Army. I'm not much of a football buff, J assures me that "this was a great win." Thanks for keeping our husband and daddy happy, Cyclones.
Yesterday we worshiped at our church's Christian Life Center, then Addi and I hurried off to our uptown site just in time for her to sing with the Little Cherubs at the 11:00 service. They were as sweet as can be. For some reason I still tear up everytime she gets up in front of all those people. Are these the same tears I'll be shedding when she's stading up on that same altar on her wedding day?!? Oh, good grief.
Anyhoo, church was followed by lunch with my parent's, grandparents, and Scott. The rest of the afternoon and evening was just plain relaxing. I couldn't have asked for a better weekend.
This week I'm doing a lot of last minute planning for my best friend, Marissa's, bachelorette party that I will be hosting on Saturday. It's sure to be a great time and I'm doing my best not to stress over some of those small details.
Hope you're all enjoying the cooler weather!
