Sorry, I've been MIA lately. Things around here have been CrAZy with Summerfest, my class reunion, preparing for State Baseball (go Hawks!), getting ready for vacation & thinking ahead to the kids' birthdays. I know, excuses, excuses.
First things first, we leave for Disneyland on Monday. Woo hoo! I have about five bizillion lists going & my mind is racing with "to-do's," but it'll all come together, right? Right?! I have to admit, I'm a little anxious about flying with the kids. We're just loading up on cheap (as in Target dollar section) new toys and LOTS of snacks. And, of course, a sedative for mommy & daddy. Just kidding...kind of. :-)
Secondly, we lost the second tree from our front yard on Sunday night in the storm. Huge bummer. We thought the trees added a little character to our humble abode, not to mention some much-needed shade, so we're sad to see them go. I actually had a neighbor stop and say, "I liked your house better with the trees." Yeah, no kidding, me too. I think he thought he was being funny, but I didn't see the humor in the situation. Especially since all this tree clean-up is costing a pretty penny. Once again, however, we're thankful that it fell away from the house and that we didn't all blow away in the storm.
What else? Oh, yes, we had a wonderful Summerfest weekend. Exhausting, but wonderful. Friday, the Hawks won their first round of substate and I enjoyed the evening out (after the game) with my dear friend, Kimmy. Saturday we were up bright and early for breakfast at the Peters' and the parade. After naps we headed up to watch Aunt Lana and Emily sink in the cardboard boat ragatta. That evening we had my 10-year class reunion. It was interesting & fun, but I tend to enjoy things like "that." Sunday was the baseball banquet and rides in the midway, capped off with fireworks. Whew, I'm tried just remembering it all.
What post would be complete without some pics?!
"You mean Disneyland is even bigger than this?"
Eli and his little girlfriend, Marlee. By the way, this is the closest he has ever let her get. Interactions usually result in a complete meltdown by my sensitive little man. No idea why, Marlee is the sweetest little thing.
